Welcome to the Jefferson County Public Schools Adult and Continuing Education English as a Second Language Web Site.

The English as a Second Language program is designed to help all adults who want
to learn or improve their English communication skills. Instructors combine information on U.S. culture with practice in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

The ESL Program offers:

  • FREE morning and evening classes.

  • convenient locations.

  • qualified, caring instructors.

  • practical life-skills instruction.

  • beginning, intermediate, and advanced class levels.

We would be very happy to have you in our program.  We want to help you with your education.  Our program is now using Managed Enrollment.  We have classes that meet for 4 or 5 weeks and then a new class module will start.  A person can only start a class at the beginning of a class module.

We also offer a special program called the Louisville Academy for ESL (LAESL).  This program helps intermediate and advanced students prepare for college.  These classes can also help improve the formal language skills needed at work.

LAESL Classes:

  • are FREE

  • meet for 8 weeks

  • focus on one language skill

  • are available in the morning, afternoon, and evening

  • meet only at one location

Pre-registration is required.  Exact registration times and dates are listed on the LAESL class schedule.
